Many a times as a user in the Preparer Role, you would need to acquire more information from the client, in the form of documents, description, detail non-deductible amount etc.

The AI.TaxAssist system can be used to send queries to the client. Here are the steps to follow to create a request,

  1. Select the ledger lines for which you would like to ask for more information from the client and click on CREATE OSI button.

2. This creates an entry in the OSI tab as shown below,

3. Click on Questions and Answers button to see options to design questions

4. You can choose one of the questions from the list and/or choose an example to guide the client, if needed. Then click on SEND TO CLIENT button (the button is greyed out and will only be available when a question is chosen for the client). This sends a request to the client which the client can respond to logging in to the client portal.

5. The system also gives you an option of sending an email to the client. Click on YES in the dialog below to open the email configuration window,

6. The email configuration dialog shows the message and the email addresses to which the email will be sent. You can uncheck the addresses you do not wish to send an email to. You can add addresses in the Other boxes. Once done, click on SEND button to send out an email. Client will be directed to the AI.TaxAssist portal upon clikcing the link in the email.

7. Once the client responds, you can make the relevant changes in the Workspace to mark and tax related changes.

8. In the OSI tab, you can enter your comments under Preparer Comments.

9. Under Actions, you can click on filter button to filter the Workspace entries and show only the ledgers for which the OSI has been raised.

10. Under Actions, you can also resolve an OSI by clicking on the tick mark button. This will change the OSI Status from Open to Done.

11. When you is satisfied with all the inputs from the client, you can click on APPROVE ALL button in the Workspace tab to generate the draft tax computation. If the OSI has not been marked Done, a validation message is shown to the user on clicking the APPROVE ALL button to resolve the open OSIs. The user can choose to Continue without resolving the OSIs.
